How to 'Screen' a client

Screening in the Themis Search Platform allows you to do an initial check on a client before bringing them onboard. It allows you to quickly see if there are any red flags in terms of PEP status, Sanctions, Adverse Media, Law Enforcement or Associated Persons/Companies.

To ‘Screen’ a client:

  1. Go to the ‘Screen’ section of the Themis Search Platform.
  2. Click ‘Screen New Client’.
  3. Select if you would like to ‘Screen’ an individual or company.
    1. Input the individual/company name.
    2. This is the only required information you need to put to run a ‘Screen’ check - if you would like to add more information, use the relevant fields to narrow your search. The more information you add, the less likely you are to have false positive matches.
    3. If you have a unique internal reference that you would like to use, input this in the ‘Unique Client Reference ID’ section - you will be able to search by this in future.
    4. If you want to categorise your screening for future reference, use the ‘Tags’ section - you can either search for a pre existing tag, or type to create a new one. Tags can be used to categorise by industry, company, jurisdiction etc.
  4. Click ‘Screen’.
    1. If there are matches for the name searched, they will appear below.
    2. If there are no matches - good news! This means this client has no links to financial crime.
  5. Click ‘Preview Details’ to expand the information & confirm if the individual is a true positive match.
  6. Once you have found a match, click on the name to bring up a pop up to add any optional notes & save as a match.
  7. At this point you can either:
    1. Do further checks by launching an investigation (‘Search’).
    2. Move them to ‘Monitor’ for future status updates.
  8. If no results are a true positive/there are no results:
    1. If none of the results are a true positive match, scroll to the bottom and select ‘None of these’ to record this & add them to ‘Search’ or ‘Monitor’ if required.
    2. If the system generates no results at all, click ‘Record no criminal match’ to record this & add them to ‘Search’ or ‘Monitor’ if required.
